The history of the Beats

Stephen Kushner and Gerald Falkner present, with video extracts, audio documents, television recordings and musical experiments, the history of the Beat Poets in the live film collage ‘On the Road to Berlin’. The journey begins in New York with central protagonists such as William S. Burroughs, Allen Ginsberg, Frank O’Hara and Jack Kerouac, and progresses through the legendary first reading of the beats in the 6 Gallery on October 7th 1955 to San Francisco and the second beat-generation of, among many others, Bob Kaufman and Diane DiPrima.
