A reading revue will demonstrate the diversity of poetry in the so-called “reading country”: sometimes solemn, sometimes sarcastic, or intentionally or unintentionally droll. Poems by artists who left the GDR after enough experience of it.

Tonight: Irmgard Knef – My Old West

10 pm Hall 1 of the Akademie der Künste, Hanseatenweg
Entry: 8/5 euros

With Irmgard Knef (i.e. Ulrich Michael Heissig) and her band Strahlkraft: Stephan Genze (drums/percussion), Prof. Dr. Stefan Weinzierl (piano), Daniel Zenke (bass/guitar).

Irmgard, the sister that Hildegard Knef disowned for life, will be making an appearance tonight. Accompanied by her young musicians, this spry old lady will be chatting satirically, with a wink in her eye, and sometimes even poetically, about the long gone years of her “old West”. Were they wild times? A lot was experienced, even in Hildegard’s shadow.
