Theme: Poetry and Animation Film

In a film discussion with Rolf Giesen (Filmmuseum Berlin), audience members and filmmakers discuss the aesthetic and formal interrelation of poetry and animation films. The questions will follow the presentation of a few examples of films from the programme of the ZEBRA Poetry Film Award, and pursue what moves a filmmaker to film a poem, or to use one as the basis of his animated film. In addition, Rolf Giesen will, together with the public, take a short journey through the history of animated film, comparing North American, European and Japanese traditions with each other, and commenting on the development of German animation-film production.
