International Colloquium

On Friday July 2nd 2004 at 11 am an international colloquium takes place once again in the rooms of the Deutschen Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GTZ; German Society for Technical Cooperation), examining the theme ‘What roles do artists play in intercultural understanding?’ Poetic and filmic languages develop from concrete cultural backgrounds, which they probe and challenge. Experienced in a foreign cultural context, these languages can be understood, depending on the differing circumstances of their reception, in a wide variety of ways. Intensive dialogue can bring new understanding to the respectively ‘other’ cultures.
During the international colloquium, filmmakers from varied countries and cultures present examples of their films and speak about their production conditions. In discussion with the participants, mutual gateways into film and poetry will be shared, and various means of perception and comprehension established.
